Elvis Duran (built-in Barry Brian Cope; August 5, 1964)[1] is an American radio personality. He is the host of the daily morning radio program Elvis Duran and the Morning Testify in New York on Z100 and in syndication on Premiere Networks.[ii] [three]
Earlier his job at Z100, Duran'south previous radio work included a stint as an on-air personality at WIOQ in Philadelphia. Early life
Duran was born Barry Brian Cope[1] in McKinney, Texas,[9] one of three sons of Valeta and Billy James "BB" Cope, who at various points was city manager, postmaster and mayor of McKinney.[1] [10]
Elvis Duran and the Morning Show
Duran began hosting his daily radio show on New York's Z100 in Apr 1996. The show expanded to Sussex Canton NJ in 2003 on WHCY-FM Max 106.three and Y100/WHYI-FM in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale on May 22, 2006. The show signed a national bargain in March 2009 with the radio syndication visitor, Premiere Networks, a subsidiary of Clear Channel.[11]
Elvis Duran and the Morning Show has since added more than 30 stations including 96.5 Buss FM/WAKS-FM in Cleveland, Q102/WIOQ-FM in Philadelphia, WERZ (107.1 FM) in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and Z96.3 in Manhattan, Kansas. In 2007, Duran launched his own entertainment company, The Elvis Duran Group (EDG). Owned by Duran and talent agent David Katz, the company focuses on content creation beyond all media. EDG's offset foray into television receiver resulted was the four-episode, 2010 Fasten TV series Phowned, an iteration of the radio show's Phone Taps prank-call segment.[16]

The National Clan of Broadcasters recently nominated EDMS for the 2012 NAB Marconi Award for Network/Syndicated Personality of the Year. In 2014, Duran was featured on Out mag's "20th Ceremony Out 100" list as 1 of the most influential figures in the LGBT community.[17] In 2015, Duran was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame as the Music Format On-Air Personality, and the Today Bear witness celebrated this milestone.[18]
Duran served as an event chair for the 2016 GLAAD Manhattan Awards, where he was honored for his contributions to the customs.[19] On Thursday, March 2, 2017, Duran was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Philanthropy
Duran serves on the board of directors for Rock & Rawhide, a non-turn a profit organisation that aims to increment adoptions while likewise providing a quieter, stress-free life for animals surrendered to shelters.[21] Duran too contributes to the Staten Isle Zoo'southward[22] [23] annual endowment and Robin Hood Foundation.[24] Having publicly come out as gay in 2010, Duran is also engaged in philanthropic efforts affecting the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community, and works closely with GLAAD and The Trevor Project.[25]
Personal life
Duran lost 110 pounds by undergoing bariatric sleeve surgery in 2014. He came out as gay during a 2010 broadcast, and was thousand align of the Miami Embankment Gay Pride Parade in 2016.[26]
Duran and his partner Alex Carr were engaged on July 13, 2018.[27] They were married in a civil ceremony at the Richmond County Surrogate Court on Carr's native Staten Island on Baronial 22, 2019,[28] and had a hymeneals September 14, 2019, in Santa Iron, New Mexico.[29]
